Q- Is it possible to lose 10 pounds of fat in one week like the advertisements claim?

A- It's physiologically not possible to lose that much fat in one week, that is, unless you weigh 1000 pounds. A very rough estimate of how much fat you can lose is about 1% per week of your total body weight when cutting calories by 50%. For example, if you weigh 170 pounds, you can expect to lose approximately 1.7 pounds of fat per week on a strict calorie reduced diet (170 x 0.01 = 1.7).

Where do you get your nutrition information? Most states now have licensure laws for Dietitians and Nutritionists. Be sure your nutrition advisor is "Licensed" by the State as a Licensed Dietitian (LD) or Licensed Nutritionist (LN), or in states that don't have licensure laws, a Registered Dietitian.
